Really Busy

Can’t believe I’ve neglected this for so long.  We’ve been really busy and changes made it hard to get to this site.  To bring this up to date quickly, we’ve gotten a lot done.  We’re back to one motor home (who needs two anyway?) and sold the Allegro.  A young couple just starting out in

One more step

It’s been a while since I posted, but things have been moving rapidly at a snail’s pace, if you know what I mean. Seems that we are busier than ever but not much is really getting done.  I guess that’s par for most courses.  The house hasn’t sold in what everyone tells me is a

2007 Monaco Knight Diesel Pusher – Initial Comments

We just got this big bad boy.  It is a different world with turbo diesel power, air brakes, and 8 air bag suspension.  Cruises down the road very well and is much quieter with the engine in the rear.  The only big thing I don’t like is that they didn’t put the generator on a

2006 Tiffin Open Road

This is our third RV vehicle over the years.  Some tmie ago, we had a 34 ft. Georgie Boy.  It was pretty basic, with no slides, on a Ford chassis with the old 460 cu. in. gasoline engine. The next one (a long time later) was a 28 ft. Travel Trailer with a single slide.

Time Marches On

We are now in the perhaps a bit unique position of owning two motorhomes.  We alrady had one, and knowing we were going to upgrade before going full time, I’ve been watching a lot of “for sale” situations on diesel pushers (DP for short). I found a really good deal on one and decided to

RV Upgrade

We have planned all along to upgrade our RV as the time to go full time got closer.  I’ve developed a habit of watching RV Trader for what seem to be really good deals.  So far, I’ve looked at three.  The first two were “too good to be true” – great price, great descriptions, even

New Drivers License

Texas requires a different license if an RV weighs 26,001 lbs or more.  It’s a class B license if anything you tow is 10,000 lbs. or less.  Class A if the tow is > 10,000 lbs.  The only thing we plan on towing is a car, so it will be well under the weight limit.

Who We Are

This is a blog of our journey from preparing to retire and go full time RVing to wherever that journey takes us.  Specifics aren’t too important, but some general details might be helpful.  My wife spent all of her working life in various people support activities:  Campfire, Juvenile Court, Child Care, Easter Seals. She is

Progress, Yes or No?

It’s been a busy while and I haven’t posted anything recently.  The estate sale went well.  A lot of stuff was sold, and most of the residue carted off to either a donation center, or the local land fill.  But, there are still a zillion little bits and pieces to be dealt with.  Not to

Are we There Yet?

I’m the one asking that today, not my (grown) kids. But it’s not about a physical destination – we’re already home. But we are deep into the down sizing process.  We’ve moved a seeming mountain of boxes to storage, and took the dining room set over yesterday.  We aren’t keeping it, but our youngest wants
