On the Road, REALLY On The Road

Blast OFF!!  Ok, so, as usual, I way overestimated what I thought I could get done before we left in two weeks, but I dealt with that, putting off what couldn’t be accomplished, taking a couple of projects with me to work on, and putting the rest into storage for when I get back.  But nothing that is essential to our travels.  More importantly, we are actually leaving on Monday, August 14, 2016, on an adventure that we have looked forward to for over a year.  We are now without a permanent home (we have a permanent mailing address in Livingston TX but that is a post office address only) and no job so we are homeless and jobless for all practical purposes.  Interesting position to be in.

Well, for right now we are getting used to me not working at all (except on the motorhome it seems) and planning out our adventures.  That is a combination of wanting to do detailed planning and yet be more spontaneous.  I’ll have to let you know how that works out in practice.  We’ve only put together a few details of our trip in broad brush strokes with only a couple of fixed locations and dates so far:  a sister’s birthday party, a visit with a nephew that I haven’t seen in years (but we keep in touch via Facebook of all things) and an RV rally in West Virginia.  So we have some structure, but it is still only a framework to hang other adventures around.

Our first stop is actually going to be in Alvarado TX to have some work done on the RV, we hope pretty quickly.  So we have a campground reserved there for one night, then we’ll see how far e get that day.  The goal is Oklahoma City to stop at the Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
