Really Busy

Can’t believe I’ve neglected this for so long.  We’ve been really busy and changes made it hard to get to this site.  To bring this up to date quickly, we’ve gotten a lot done.  We’re back to one motor home (who needs two anyway?) and sold the Allegro.  A young couple just starting out in RVing bought it, and I think it will do well for them.  It just wasn’t going to cut it for us as a full time home.  One major item off my list.

We’ve been out of the house for a while now, but it still hasn’t sold.  A few serious lookers, but no one who wants to buy it.  We keep workking with the real estate agent but, while it’s a lovely place, it is also a bit unique and obviously not as desirable to others as it was to us.  We jumped on it when wer first saw it.  It was only on the market a week when we found it.  Oh well, in God’s time it will sell.

I keep working on the “new” RV to fix up some things that are needed.  I’m slowly converting all of the lights to LEDs.  The incandescent ones were easy:  just buy an appropriate bulb and plug them in.  The flourescent ones are a bit harder.  I remove the old guts of the light and line it with strips of LEDs.  Depending on the application I’ve put anywhere from four to eight strips of 24 LEDs in them.  It’s an easy process, but I bought a small number of them to try the process out.  Then I bought a bunch more but unerestimated how much to buy.  So I’m waiting for delivery of the next (last?) reels to finish up.  Ironically, several of the fixtures have died recently so I would have to replace either the bulbs of the ballast anyway.  The goal is to reduce the load to increase battery life if we ever try boondocking.

One recurring issue with this particular brand of coach is a problem with the door latch.  It seems that there is enough wear, or just run in of the parts, that the outside latch reaches a point it will hardly open the door.  It hits a hard stop before moving enough to trip the latch.  The inside works fine.  It gets so bad that you wonder if you can get the door open sometimes.  The Internet to the rescue.  There are are several places folks have publishe detailed instructions on how to make the adjustment.  I was able to do it fairly easily.  I also fixed one of the door locks while I had the door apart.  That took longer than adjusting the latch. One more item off the list.

Well, there’s lots more going on, but this will get the updates started.
