Time Marches On

We are now in the perhaps a bit unique position of owning two motorhomes.  We alrady had one, and knowing we were going to upgrade before going full time, I’ve been watching a lot of “for sale” situations on diesel pushers (DP for short). I found a really good deal on one and decided to go ahead and make the move on it.  So now we have the existing one (needless to say, the private owner wasn’t interested in taking a trade) and a “new to us” one.  There a few things that need attention, and we just found a leak with all of the rain we’ve had.  That has to be fixed ASAP before it damages something.

The extra space (40 ft. long versus 32 ft., 4 slides versus 2 slides) will be a really welcome change.  I’m sure it will seem too small at some point, but by comparison to what we’ve been using it’s pretty huge.  We’ve moved some of the items over and it is now parked in College Station where dear wife (DW) is helping our youngest with her new baby.  I have the original one back here while we deal with selling the house. At least I get a TV back for the occasional show I watch.

It (the house listing) hit multi-list about a week ago so we expect the traffic to pick up. We’re having a very unusal amount of rain now, so it has slowed looking down a bit.  In the meantime, I’m dealing with the last remants of personal effects that we didn’t quite get cleared out of the property.  I have a whole stack of Serilite containers that I am loading with things, and carefully marking each one with the contents.  We’ll be putting that in one of the two RV’s so it can be out of the way for showing the house.

It’s realy reached the point where my lack of patience makes staying with the house a bother. I’d love for it to be sold so we could start full timing in the RV while I finish up work.  Speaking of which, my boss asked the other day when I was retiring, so I told him around the end of Q1 next year. So, while no paperwork has been cut, it’s pretty much an official position now.  Can’t say as it makes me sad.  Work is finally starting to be less and less fun, so it’s time for a change and a new chapter.

I should note that I did take the driving test in Marble Falls last week.  Passing is 70 and I got an 80. SInce it’s a pass/fail that’s OK. I did learn that you are supposed to use your turn signal when pulling away from or into a curb.  Never new that, and it cost me two points. I did find out there are three automatic “fails” if you do them: 1) failing to obey a traffic law (such as not stopping at stop signs, speeding, etc.), 2) drive dangerously (such as hitting another vehicle or pedestrian – gee, ya think?), or 3) letting your reat tires hit the curb on a turn. In case you ever need to now those things. So I can now legally drive the beast.  I guess it’s a good thing they didn’t ask how I got the coach to the driving test.
