Who We Are
This is a blog of our journey from preparing to retire and go full time RVing to wherever that journey takes us. Specifics aren’t too important, but some general details might be helpful. My wife spent all of her working life in various people support activities: Campfire, Juvenile Court, Child Care, Easter Seals. She is definitely the “people person” in where her interests lie. Of course, she was instrumental in raising two beautiful daughters who have both married wonderful men and started their own families. As of this writing, we have five young grandchildren from ages 4 weeks to 7 years. She retired a few years back when the stress of dealing with people in bad situations (not necessarily of their own making) started to outweigh the joy of helping them.
Me, I’ve worked as an engineer and drug my family around a big portion of the country over the years. I guess I’ve always had a bit of wanderlust, so this retiring to a life on the road seems a natural next step. We’re at the point where I’m looking forward to putting the work decisions on someone else’s shoulders and just puttering around the countryside. There are so many places yet to see, and so many to see again. My wonderful wife says she wants to go too, and I’m sure she does, but I also suspect it’s ’cause she’s always been by my side, or sometimes out in front, on our journey.
It’s a lot of work and emotional effort to upheave our life style, but it’s also an exciting new chapter.
