The House is Sold

Never, ever thought it would take this long to sell a property that we dearly loved.  But what we loved didn’t seem to motivate buyers as much as us when we bought it.  The good news is that it FINALLY closed.  There were several last minute delays because all of the paperwork wasn’t completed accurately or on time.  You would think that for as much as we pay for commissions and closing costs, and as many mortgages as are done each day that this would be done to a pretty precise science, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In any event, it finally got done Friday, but so late in the day that it didn’t fund until the next business day, which is Tuesday.  Oh well, it is finally done and we are in the count down mode to actually take off and start our new life as vagabonds.  We have the mail forwarding in operation so we’ll see how that goes for the next few weeks.  And we have a rough itinerary laid out for the next few months, taking us around to see family and do some exploring, and then back to central Texas for the year end holidays.

We’ll have to see how my system reacts to the absence of any real deadlines or timetables.  That will be a new experience after 50 years as an adult worker.
